Notre-Dame

Maybe the best French Gothic church of them all?  Located on the Ile de la Cite, it has become an icon of Paris.

Inside there a displays of artwork and other pieces of history.  Outside view the flying buttresses and the river locale.

Sainte-Chapelle

Be prepared to be dazzled by the 1,113 stained glass windows at this jewel of a church.  Built to house sacred relics this church's 15 meter stained glass windows transported you in to another world!

There are also concerts offered here, which tour members can attend on nights off!

Pere Lachaise Cemetery

A quick bus ride away is the largest cemetery in Paris, the first garden cemetery and the most visited in the world. It is filled with small chapels, the graves of many influential people, and covering 110 acres there is plenty to explore.

Notable residents are Frederic Chopin, Oscar Wilde, Jim Morrison and Gertrude Stein. In addition, it is a lovely walk on a nice day.

Sacre-Coeur

The journey to the top of Montmartre was half the fun. Our group enjoyed the beautiful walk through the artsy neighborhoods leading up to the church with a view.

There were street musicians playing on the steps, local artists selling their crafts and a wonderful funicular ride back to the bottom of the hill. The beautiful vineyard and sunny cobblestone streets embodied a whole other side of the culture of Paris.
